Windows 7 Build 6956

Post by ToastyCheesy »

WinHEC China 2008 is currently taking place and officially ends on December the 4th. They’ve
already begun demonstration of Windows 7 but seemed to be using build 6956, a build newer than
6801 that was used at WinHEC USA.
There were some noticeable changes in build 6956 spotted by PCBeta:
  • * New boot screen with animated objects or balls that form the Windows logo
    * Taskbar is fully functional in this build
    * Zoom function available now on desktop as well as multimedia files
    * Jumplists can be accessed by right-clicking on a symbol in the taskbar
    * Start button becomes more colorful than before when you hover over it.

Looks nice.

I find it a bit funny that they're showing this in China. I guess they're wetting the mouths of all the bootleggers.

I have a stinking suspicion its going to be a leak, look where its being displayed.if anyone's going to leak it,might as well be China.I guess we just sit back and wait,it would be nice to have something new to play with.

EDIT:I see I was beat by 2 minutes.

That boot screen is slick, now if only there was higher quality video... But Windows 7 booted in about 20 seconds, which is great as well.

I'll give it never (if it's only a demo build, like 693x was at PDC)

I doubt it, in build 6933, MS changed something in the registry so that the build tag does not show in the desktop. build 6954 has a buildtag in the desktop. But, in the first post of this link, the poster says it is another internal version. So it could be a demo build.

I'd take that back. Unlike other post-6801 builds, this one will leak eventually. Asian countries suffer from problems on piracy. (Trust me, it's a problem here in Manila.)

I'll see if I can integrate it into a DVD so it installs like Windows 7 6801.

Do you have the VHD file of Windows 7 Build 6956?

In any case, good luck.

Build 6780. I doubt that's notable changes between that and build 6801 though

He could be lying, he has one post and that is the post.

True, but right now barely anyone knows where to get 6954. Even if they did there is a good chance they speak Chinese. I suggest you go to WinBetas, or google
